The Coral Gables Merrick House is a historic house museum in Coral Gables, Florida. It is best noted for being the boyhood home of George E. Merrick, also known as the ?father of Coral Gables?.
The Coral Gables Merrick House features an 1899 frame house which was later altered and expanded in 1907. It was built by Rev. Solomon Merrick, George?s father. The house served as the family residence of the Merricks, where the founder of the city grew up.
The Coral Gables Merrick House was acquired by the city and restored into its 1920s era appearance. It is available for tours where visitors can view the family?s furniture, personal items, and artwork. There are also a number of photographs and paintings telling of local history on display as well.
