The Deering Estate is a 444-acre of environmental, archaeological and historical preserve. The estate has a range of activities you, your family and friends will surely enjoy. There are tours around historic houses in the estate, the Stone House and Richmond Cottage, with a tour on the natural areas around the estate where fossil bones that dates back to 50,000 years have been found. Deering Estate is very popular for canoe tours, butterfly walks and nature hikes. Visitors can visit the Chicken Key which is a 7-acre mangrove Island and a bird rookery a mile after Biscayne Bay via canoe. Visitors truly enjoy being in the outdoors and closer to nature.

The estate also features classes and programs for teachers, students and interested people regarding environment, botany, history, fine arts, antiques, rare books and wine. Events like conferences and other social functions are also held in the estate as it is available for rental. The estate holds different kind summer camps for children and teens to encourage appreciation of nature and history.
