The Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park is a state park in Gainesville, Florida. It features the Devil’s Millhopper, a bowl shaped cavity that is 120 feet deep and filled with a miniature rain forest.
The amazing thing about the Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park is that visitors can actually descend down the sinkhole. The state park installed a wooden boardwalk with 212 steps that go down the cavity and allows the folks to experience the mini rainforest in the area. There’s also a nature trail that is about a half mile long that goes around the top of the sinkhole.
Designated as a National Natural Landmark, the Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park also offers activities like picnicking, wildlife viewing, and tours.
