The Florida Museum of Natural History is a natural history museum in Gainesville, Florida. It is the state’s official state-sponsored and chartered museum of the sort.

Located inside the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, the Florida Museum of Natural History or FLMNH is best noted for being one of the ten largest natural history museums in the United States. It was originally opened in 1891 as the Florida State Museum, it was only renamed in 1988 to better reflect its mission and concentration.

The Florida Museum of Natural History features a very wide range of displays, starting with its 28 million specimens and cultural artifacts. The site is also home to one of the largest collections of butterflies and moths in the world.
