Jets of water fly 100 feet up the ground from the stunning Friendship Fountain. Built in 1965, it?s one of the world?s largest fountains. The fountain was originally called the ?Fountain of Friendship in Dallas Thomas Park". This name came from the city's parks and finance commissioner. The park and the fountain were then renamed in 1968.

Friendship Fountain stands at 200-feet wide and shoots water for as high as 120 feet, at a rate of 17,000 gallons of water per minute. Water coming out of the fountain move at different directions every time, so people who gaze at it can see variations. The 252 multi-colored lights that dance around the fountain also make the Friendship Fountain a definite eye catcher at night.

The Friendship Fountain is one of the few cultural landmarks in the downtown area of Jacksonville that remain and have not yet been removed by the locale.
