Known and claims to be ?The Oldest House?, the Gonzalez-Alvarez House could be the longest standing residential home in the United States. The fact that it is located in the city of St. Augustine, Florida, which is the oldest city in the country, makes the theory about its age plausible.

Built around the 1720s, the structure shows evidence of having been occupied since the 1600s. Although, the title is being threatened by another old, historic house in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Oldest House still sticks to the name, especially since there?s an established attraction for it already, under the name of the Oldest House Museum Complex.

The Oldest House Museum Complex features the Gonzalez-Alvarez House as its main attraction. In addition to it, there?s also the Old House Garden, Page Edwards Gallery, and the Manucy Museum on the site.
