Lake Manatee State Park is a state recreational area located on the south shore of Lake Manatee. The park extends for three miles on the coast of the Manatee and Sarasota counties water reservoir.
The lake the park is named after is actually a water reservoir and unfortunately, despite the name of the waterway, sea manatees cannot reach the area because of the dam in place on the manatee river.
There is a boat ramp on the park for easy launching of boats into the lake, however visitors should note that there is a twenty horsepower limitation for boat engines on the lake. Boating, canoeing, and kayaking are the most popular activities for park visitors at the Lake Manatee State Park.
