Created by the rising reservoir waters of the Jackson Bluff Dam, Late Talquin is the site of the Lake Talquin State Park, a state recreational area.
The lake itself is the centerpiece of the recreational area, hosting a variety of different water activities for park visitors of all ages. The lake is a rich fishing site for fresh water anglers featuring speckled perch, bream, shell cracker, and largemouth bass. Anglers can fish from the boardwalk, dock, a boat, canoe, or even from the lake shore. Park visitors can also enjoy hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities afforded by the park trails including a new bluff trail constructed by the boy scouts which leads to a bluff that overlooks the entire lake.
