Known for its pristine state and natural beauty, the Lower Wekiva River Preserve State Park is one of the most famous land borne wildlife viewing locations in the state.
One of the unique features of this park is its trails. The Sand Hill Nature Trail, featuring a self-guided tour, helps park visitors understand Florida wildlife and native vegetation. There are another 18 miles of trails that are available for hikers to use at the northern part of the park.
The northern portion?s 18 miles of multi-use trails are also available for cyclists and horse riders. However, horses are not allowed in the southern portion of the park. Since the northern trails are located in a wilderness area, hikers, cyclists, and riders are advised to take ample provisions such as water, a compass, and a map to ensure safety.
