The Marie Selby Gardens is a botanical garden in Sarasota, Florida. It is best known for its wide collection of over 6000 orchids. The site is also noted for its focus on specializing in epiphytic plants.
At the Marie Selby Gardens, visitors can see a wide array of air plants in its 14 acres of bay front land area. Named after Marie Selby who started the garden with his husband, William, the Marie Selby is also more of a resident?s gift to her city. The site was opened in 1975 as a part of Marie?s last wish of leaving her home to the city of Sarasota to be opened as a botanical garden.
Today, the Marie Selby Gardens is a landmark and a haven in Sarasota. Visitors can also find a museum on the site.
