The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville is an art museum in Jacksonville, Florida. It is best known as one of the museums in the southeast to carry the largest contemporary and modern art pieces.
Founded in 1924 as the Jacksonville Fine Arts Society, the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville is the first visual arts organization in Jacksonville. It became known as the Jacksonville Art Museum in 1948 and then became the first institution to be accredited by the American Association of Museums in the city in 1978.
Housed in the historic Western Union Telegraph Building, the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville has grown so much through the years. Today it features a permanent collection of over 750 works in various media and forms.
