The Old Jail Museum is a very interesting local history museum in St. Augustine, Florida. It is also more of a themed attraction rather than a museum, as it aims to scare its visitors through a series of activities and staged skits.
Housed in the historic 1892 St. Johns County Jail, the Old Jail Museum is called by some as the state?s version of Salem, Massachusetts? Witch Dungeon. It features the old jailhouse, made by the same company who also worked on the Alcatraz. It depicts how prisoners were treated back in the days through an interesting presentation, using animatronic dummies and costumed actors playing the roles of prisoners and tour guides.
The tours around the Old Jail Museum commonly take around 30 minutes, as they are usually guided and follow a specific program. However, you can always go back in and explore on your own.
