Known as the state of Florida?s first state historic site, the Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park is the site of one of the most important battles in the state of Florida during the civil war.

The Battle of Olustee was the largest civil war battle fought in Florida. It is also known as the third bloodiest battle of the war for the Union side. One of the last confederate victories during the war, the Battle of Olustee was seen as a spirit raising rout for the failing confederacy. Overall there were 2,807 casualties from both sides. The war memorial at Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park honors all of the soldiers who died during that battle . A historical reenactment of the battle is held every February .
