Popular as a location for viewing the threatened Florida Scrub-Jays, the Oscar Scheer State Park is a state natural preserve and recreational community in Osprey, Florida.

The Oscar Scheer State Park is generally made up of pine and scrubby flatwoods, this is one of the reasons why Florida Scrub-Jays often choose this habitat. The native vegetation in the preserve is a good estimation of what was once the prevalent condition of Sarasota County.

Activities available in the park include hiking its fifteen miles of trails, cycling, camping, fishing, picnicking and boating among many others. South Creek is an excellent waterway in the park for canoeist and kayakers, however motorized boats are not allowed in the park. Full-facility campsites are also available.
