Recognized as a National Natural Landmark, the Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is natural preserve in Micanopy Florida known for its unique geography, diverse biology, and colorful history.

The park covers over twenty-two thousand acres of a unique area in the state of Florida. The park contains over twenty distinct natural biological communities that contain a variety of animal species and native vegetation. There is a visitors center equipped with an audio-visual program that discusses the area’s history and ecological diversity.

Activities in the area include cycling, camping, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, and wildlife viewing. There are eight trails for use by park visitors and ranger led activities during weekends. The boat launch is available for those who wish to use the lake for fishing.
