Originally intended to function as an exclusive hotel in St. Augustine, Florida, the Ponce de Leon Hotel is a historic building in the very old city built in 11885 to 1887. However, aside from its location, it boasts more historical details under its roof.
For one, the Ponce de Leon Hotel is one of the first buildings to be ever wired for electricity in the United States. It was also the first major poured-in-place concrete building in the country.
Ponce de Leon Hotel?s guest list is also something to boast of. It once provided accommodation to prominent figures like Theodore Roosevelt, Mark Twain, Babe Ruth, and Somerset Maugham. Some of its workers have also earned their way to history books either through their advocacy or through their talents.
The Ponce de Leon Hotel now functions as a part of Flagler College.
