A reconstruction of a 17th century hospital built on the site, the Spanish Military Hospital and Museum is a presentation of period medical procedures and equipment that shows museum visitors what patients can expect to experience in hospital in the 1700s

Most visitors to the museum come through educational field trips which are scheduled to provide the best museum viewing experience featuring a guided tour through the hospital museum sections, giving explanations on how each room and the equipment found within were used during hospital operations.

There are several interesting sections in the hospital museum. For example, the mourning room, where dying patients received blessings before death, the surgeons office, where surgeries were conducted and the surgeons tools are kept, and the apothecary which showcase how historical medicines were created and stored.
