The Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is a state park in Palm Coast, Florida. It is well known for various reasons, but the top reasons are for its formal gardens and the unique shoreline of coquina rock formations lining its Atlantic beach.
The Washington Oaks Gardens State Park was originally owned as a private property by a distant relative of the President George Washington. The gardens were later created in 1936 by the couple Louise and Owen Young. They used the property as their winter retirement home, created a garden, and named the site Washington Oaks. Later, when the couple died, the property was donated to the State with a condition of keeping it in its present form and later expanding it when funding allowed it.
