The Waterfront Playhouse is a professional and not-for-profit theatre house and group which stage plays to promote theatre art. This 150-seater theatre is located within eh historical Mallory square in the Old Town Key West community. It is considered as the oldest running theatre in Florida with local artists as the main producers, actors and actresses of the shows. It commits to produce dynamic stage plays for local and foreign tourists who visit the playhouse. Part of its commitment is also to enrich the theatre arts in the Key West community. The production team of Waterfront Playhouse held acting and playwright workshops regularly. It aims to educate the local youths who aspire to become actors, directors, and writers.

The playhouse stages different genre of theatrical shows such as comedy, musical, classic, drama, premier nights including world premiers, and other community events. Aside from local artists and directors who are behind the magnificent plays in Waterfront Playhouse, professional actors and actresses such as Donna McKechnie, Charles Bushc, Kelly McGillis, and the popular playwright Terrence McNally have already staged their own shows in the theatre.

The Waterfront Playhouse also features ?Open Night Cast Parties? sponsored by donations of private groups and individuals. There are also other special events that are held in the playhouse every season. These donations also become the bread-and-butter of the playhouse in producing stage plays and concerts.

As part of the theatre?s etiquette, during the show, the theatre management does not allow mobiles phones and cameras to use inside the theatre to avoid disturbance and illegal video recording. Food is also not allowed inside.
