Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center is special educational facility that is focused on the cultural heritage of the people of Pinellas County and the natural history of the area. Special focus is given on the native American culture and artifacts that were preserved or located in and around Weedon Island.
The cultural history of Weedon island is older than recorded history itself. Native American cultures thrived in the Florida climate thousands of years before the arrival of the first Europeans in the area. The Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center attempts to chronicle these historical events. Spanning from prehistory, thru the civil war, early settlements, to modern history in the 1900s by preserving and exhibiting artifacts from those eras.
