Best Restaurant in Central Texas

My vote is a tiny place... Steak and Seafood... Bordeaux in Kyle.
The steak there was better than any I've had in the US by far. The closest comparison would have been the steak I had in Japan. Very much a mom & pop place. He's the chef. She's the hostess. You will not be disappointing!

Honestly when I go out to eat anymore, 'where' isn't even a question... Bit pricey but not when you consider the quality of the food. Service is also exceptional. Make reservations. Only open Tues-Sat.

Seafood I like Plooky's at Canyon Lake. Mom and Pop shop.

Mexican I like Los Vega in San Marcos.

Probably best though is Root Cellar for lunch and Green Onion for dinner.

You're not lacking for good food in Central Texas, that's for darn sure. My favorites are:

Chuy's Tex Mex (Barton Springs)
Kerby Lane, Gino's Pizzaria (Round Rock)
County Line BBQ (2222)
Chango's Tacos (Guadalupe St by UT)
Thundercloud subs
Freebirds burritos
Which Wich subs
Austin's pizza
Maggie Moo's ice cream
Crown & Anchor pub (San Jacinto)

I'm rarely limited to where I can eat in the area, not eating meat. When that happens, I stick with Ale.
