Absolutely, a GOOD thing.
Think about it, who brought their guns?
People who ended up with guns for some reason who don't want them, don't like them, are afraid of them or don't know what to do with them or how to secure them appropriately. Other than that, folks with guns who have come by old rusty non functioning guns and can free up their safe for something newer - and save money on groceries to boot. Although I understand they gave out prepaid debit cards that can be used for anything, including a new gun.
Also, no tax money was to be used, the money came from donations from people who think they are saving hundreds of people from being shot by these horrible tools of violence. I say take all the money we can from those who could otherwise use it in some objectionable way that would encourage more gun control.
Definitely, but until I got out in the world I never understood anti gun issues. To me it was the equivalent of blaming a shovel for the hole it had dug. Honestly, I still see it that way and get kind of offended wen people see it as a redneck standpoint, I see it as how do you blame an inanimate object for the actions of the animate. It's beyond me I suppose.
Only "good folks" will turn in their guns, the criminals will keep theirs.
Every citizen should take a weapons training class and learn how to fire handguns for protection. Be safe AND own personal handgun.
tanya
If your a criminal with a gun and lacking food, wouldn't you just hold up a store before handing your pistol over?

This is true, look at the news back home in Ireland, guns have never been legally obtainable but it doesn't stop the "---- was shot last night" news headlines. Hell even the cops are not allowed to carry in Ireland, seems only criminals are allowed....I always wondered how different it might be if more up standing ppl were armed back home.
