Then of course Austin grew without the major roads and now there is really no alternative, no space even.

I hate I35. I cannot get to Georgetown without coming to a complete stop at some point. No matter time of day or day.

That was the pre-Silicon Valley shebang. After the military base closed down Bergstrom AFB, the silicon libs moved in from Cali.
I remember well the roads before then.
That shift forever changed the face of Austin.

I don't, and honestly the only issue I had with 183 moving to Austin was the constant name changes. Things could get confusing.

I had to make the drive home to Dallas last weekend and was stuck in traffic the whole 4 hours. Typical. It got really bad between Waco and Hillsboro, I wish there was a convenient alternative to the Highway, but there's not.
