Mexican Free Tail Bats

They are coming out in full force! Anyone else seen the Mexican Free Tail bats yet? There's a bridge just north of Austin on 35 that gets backed up bad when they start making their way out from under it.

When they are flying, (right time of year) it is an amazing sight. Went with my wife once and we missed the main flight. Went back by myself and got to see the massive flight. It was amazing, and a huge trail of bats as far as the eye could see. There is a phone number (bat line) where you can call for details about when is the best viewing time.
They fly right around sunset.

I think I know what you're talking about.
There was also a bridge on 35 just south of Round Rock and every time I would drive over it in my Jeep I could smell the guano real strong. God I miss central Texas.

I'm sorry, I was talking about the Congress St bridge. Not sure of others in the area but I am sure there are more. Houston has one also although I have never seen the bats fly from there.

I believe that the Congress St bridge holds one of the largest urban populations of bats in North America.
