New Texting/Driving Laws in Texas

Just in case my fellow Texans aren't aware, and haven't seen the electronic billboards: It is now officially illegal in many Tx cities to text/email/browse your cell phone while driving. Austin is one of these cities.

A good step forward in my opinion!

That's a little different.

I see people do it all the time. I was leaving from lunch and saw a guy with quite a few cars behind him, taking a right turn, which he could have easily done, the issue was he was texting. He could have been looking hard at his floor board, but I doubt it.

Interesting loophole - I imagine the penalty for impeding traffic is considerably less than texting while driving. Failure to go on a light just turning green immediately or turn right on red may not even be a requirement.

I Know 4 friends(girls) that have wrecked while texting and driving.

It will definitely be a difficult law to enforce. Especially once a few people try to fight it.

It is risky to text and drive but if some people want to then why not let them.
