Shooting at UT!

Me and a buddy are at work and I made a joke that it sounded like a weak .50 cal went off. Comes to find out there is a guy at the UT library with a AK47.

?The first report I got was that there was an armed suspect in the Perry-Casteneda library. Now I?m told by campus security that the individual has shot himself on the sixth but I?m not there yet so I can?t confirm that," university spokeswoman Rhonda Weldon told the Austin American Statesman.

Shooter killed himself. They thought there was another shooter. UT is shutdown, no classes today.

My wife called to let me know. Crazy, I can't wait to see how it gets spun into a guns rights issue.

Something tells me this will begin with economics and/or politics then gun rights issues.

Nope the guy had an AK47. Skip political implications, go straight to making it illegal to own assault weapons.

Yes, the AK47 is an assault weapon that most feel should be banned, but I'm trying to figure why he did what he did. As they say, guns don't kill people, people kill people.

I bet they wont know until they search his home. From reports he fired his weapon outside and ran inside and ended it. It's about 5 or so blocks from where I work. It doesn't appear to be a second shooter.

In the end guns are not bad. More people should own and carry them.

I've read suicide now. No second shooter, but it will be weeks before we know for sure.
