I don't know, a picture tells a thousand words. That looks like a mug shot to me and he looks like he has a lot on his mind. The bad thing is this guy probably showed all the signs but no one paid attention. Just my .02
I was actually in class in the UTC (next door to the library) when all this went down. It was definitely scary, but I must say the response was incredible. The mass texts from the emergency system went out within 5 minutes of the sighting as police were showing up. They had bomb squads, SWAT, the whole nine yards out there. They interviewed every student in my 500 person class, and did complete sweeps of every surrounding building.
The second shooter thing came out of conflicting descriptions. The police got different descriptions of the shooter so they had to be sure.

I think lack of attention is at the root of this, but until we find a note or anything, we wont know.
My guess the guy had no intention of hurting anyone just wanted to make big scene of his suicide. From reports of witnesses he could have killed a few people easily if that was what he wanted to do.
