That 2" x 4" steel stock was exactly what I was thinking. Pay by the pound and really inexpensive.

Yeah and all I would have to do I break out the grinder and cut out the holes for it to fit
the frame, drill 4 holes to mount it, and chop off the 2 bottom corners so it looks like it has
some personality.

I don't need a very rugged bumper for my daily driving, but if I did want to add weight I'm pretty sure some of the boys at work could fab me up a pretty nice one

We only weld SS aircraft components.

But the lead hand in our paint shop worked in automotive restoration for many years and is pretty handy when it comes to metal sculpture
