Nissan Hardbodies

Alright, so I'm looking at an 88 Nissan Hardbody.

I could get a good deal on it.

It's got a NAPZ motor in it, it's clean.

Bad things -

Back taxes, no front windshield - small things

Big thing - 2wd. However, it's independent front suspension, so I'd kind of be planning to swap it out for a straight front axle anyway, yknow?

Anyone have experience with these? I'm going to be honest, my dad has one and has had it for like 15 years, so it's kind of a sentimental thing to me, too. His went past 300,000 miles on the original motor - it's broken down now, but sitting in their garage haha he just can't let it go.

So I'm looking for recommendations or bad experiences anyone might have with these. Are they capable whatsoever off-road, or just a joke?

I'm really interested - thanks guys!

You can do a whole lot worse than a Hardbody IMHO. Remember they were built from 1986 1/2 till 1997 and the BoF Pathfinder was the same basic platform so parts availability is still quite good.

I did end up picking it up - just towed it into my garage today. Not a bad trade for my little Honda I wasn't using anyhow.

I've got to do a few odds and ends things to it to get it going (safely hah), and then I'll be shopping for lifts!

Nothing fancy - it's going to be my beat-the-crap-out-of-it-mobile. That's what Nissan gets for, well, being Nissan, I guess.

pumped!
