!999 Corolla 1.8l, non-VVTi, 164K miles. I've gone through her with a semi-fine-toothed comb, but she still sputters upon takeoff or if I mash on the gas. Once up in the RPMs she runs smooth. She still gets around 30-32 mpg in traffic. My list so far:
Improved 4 ga. grounding to the body and engine
Battery tests 12.6 after sitting 1 day
New injectors (much smoother, but not the problem)
New Charcoal can and purge valve (P0446 and 0441 codes randomly)
Plugs are about 1-2 years old, unfouled
Just replaced fuel strainer/filter today, pump tested good
Checked all vacuum/EGR lines
Ohm'd and volted sensors for throttle
Ohm'd the coil packs
New transmission filter and fluid (AT - shifts like new)
Regular 3k mile oil/filter changes, and coolant flush
Most plastic and rubber parts are new
I've taken better care of this baby than Toyota ever did. The only things left I can think of are plug wires and catalytic converter/O2 sensors. Stumped beyond that.
Any suggestions?
