Moving to Hoover

I just got a job in Hoover and am looking for places to live. I'm 25 and would like younger part of town. I graduated U of A a few months back, and would like to stay fairly close to the party scene. Any suggestions?

Are you dead set on living in Hoover? No party scene, just lots of cops. Look at the Parc at Cahaba off 280 or the apartments at the Summit (used to be Cameron not sure if it still is)

Bamafan is right not alot of a party scene in Hoover, I think most of the party scene is still located in Southside, lots of the younger crowds live in that area of Birmingham since UAB is located there.

280 traffic is pretty heavy most of the day. Also be careful which apartments you look at in Hoover. I'd strike all on Lorna Rd off my list.

The youngsters just out of college typically party in the Lakeview district near downtown. Tons of apartments in that area, and you'd have a reverse commute to Hoover. Most of the apartments near there are older. Highland Park would be my rec. I used to live in that area when I was single and just out of college and loved it.

Hoover is mostly family oriented and geared towards that. There are a lot fo young professionals that live there though.

No rec on what part of Hoover as I don't know much about the apartments there.

jcgifford's right about the reverse commute to [and from] Hoover - all traffic crawls to Birmingham in the morning on both 65 and 280 then creeps back in the evening – I live on Birmingham's south side just off Highland and used to commute back and forth to Hoover - if you go to Hoover from Birmingham in the morning and return in the evening, you wont have much traffic most of the time, unless there is a pileup, but there is always shortcuts through Vestavia and Homewood. Look around, you can find nice apartments or homes for sale or rent with views of the City...Check out these hangouts too...

Downtown will give you best commute. All the traffic will be headed the opposite direction at rush hour.

I live in Pelham which isn't to far from Hoover. I would say also, there isn't much to do in Hoover party scene wise. I would rethink your decision. Anywhere on 280 is a good place though.

Add another vote for staying in Birmingham if you are looking for nightlife. As one commenter said, the apartments at the Summit or near Mtn. Brook are safer living areas than actually on the southside.
