Funny, but as a Bostonian (adopted) for over 11 years (and loving it) I'm still not sure why they picked Boston. I couldn't see where they explained the ranking. Kind of an end-of-the-year top-whatever-article quota-filler.
I like Boston for many reasons, but not usually for the tourist attractions. It is quaint, in its way though - downtown/Back Bay, that is.
Not to be too grinchy... I really like the lights on the trees on Comm Ave in the Back Bay

There was a news segment a few nights ago and the interviewer was asking Mayor Menino where Boston's Christmas Spirit was. It was pretty funny it must have made him feel like a grinch. The reporter said Boston has a lot of catching up to do when compared to New York City.

I like to spend my Christmas in the Boston area. Then again, I live here. LOL
