I plan on going up there right before new years. What is your favorite spot in Santa Rosa downtown?

My mom lives near SR, and that's pretty much my only must-visit place up there.

You're right on the money with Russian River Brewing Company! Vinnie Cilurzo's "Pliny the Elder" double IPA is highly regarded as one of the great beers in the world by many, many brew masters and beer aficionados alike. He's also such a Belgian beer master he has spoken on brewing Belgians in Germany! LOTS of variety for every taste.
Third Street used to be good for the beer but since Denise quit brewing there, the quality has sunk a bit. The food is still great at Third Street however.
RRBC has very good pizzas, calzones and salads if you don't mind waiting for your food. Just have a couple beers while you wait.

Rialto should be pretty good hopefully with the new management.
Snoopy Ice Rink is great fun, which is just down the street from the museum
