Canadian Camping

I noticed there was no thread for camping - one of my favorite pastimes year-round. So, do you tent/trailer/rv or sleep under the stars? Favorite places, recipes, activities....

We have a small trailer, but often tent it. Places have to be by a creek and out of cell range, and for recipes, well, garbage bag steak is the best

We have a motorhome for the family, but i prefer a tent.
I like to camp by rivers or lakes, or else high up on a mountain.
I love to explore, boat, fish, hunt, and collect rocks.
I usually make a lot of fish over the fire, as well as make kabobs at home to take along.
The best is perked coffee over the fire in the morning.

Most of my camping has been by canoe. There's nothing quite like sleeping under the stars and paddling to a new campsite every day or two. I like to travel light and fish for good food.

I like Algonquin Park and Parc de la Verendye.

And I want to know more about garbage bag steak.

I like to tent, usually it is in the back country or in a campsite that is close enough but not too close to trail heads that i can go hiking on. A different spot every time. But if I find a spot that is quiet and there are few people I will go there a few times. Best thing is fried bacon and eggs in the morning over the fire, with grilled toast.

Unfortunately the only pictures on my phone are the ones I took of a campsite I stayed at in Kelowna last fall. These are at Bears Paw provincial park just outside of that city. I will have to have a look and see what others I have after I get home tonight.

My favorite campsites are rocky outcrops in lakes that are days away from the nearest road. Nothing but us, wolves and loons

These days I have a little cabin on a couple of acres out in the bush. No electricity and no running water, but lots of stuff to do right out the door. 16' x 14' with a sleeping loft. Sleeps 12 in a pinch.

It's almost like a waterproof and permanent tent with beds and stuff.

I'm a big fan of late night fires, and my wife is too
