What do Nunavumiut Drive?

Mostly skidoos. but I have a jeep TJ... not the warmest. My wife has a Tundra (kinda ironic eh?). I went on a skidoo trip this past friday... started out okay, went across the bay. -30C and not much wind - maybe -40C with wind. stopped, had lunch and started back home... wind had picked up to about 50kph(+or-35mph)... the trip across the sea-ice was pretty bad... it was only about 27km we were travelling at about 40kph - FRICKEN COLD... I almost was frozen to my machine!! I could feel the cold biting through my helmet... just a small bit of frost-bite... nothing I haven't had before. That was a long trip. and for nothing... no caribou, no ptarmigan... only fox tracks with nothing in them...

Nice to have you on the site Sean! I'm sure there's a lot of people on the site that would love to see and hear more about life in Nunavut.

The coldest I've seen is 25 January 1994, the day my eldest son was born. I had a brand new Ford Escort, in front of my workplace, there was a large electronic screen that displays the hours and the temperature when I got the call to come and attend the birth of my son around 6 pm, it indicated -36 Celsius on the screen at midnight, when I leave the hospital, it was so cold that the seat of my car was hard as wood and took it 20 minutes for the car warms, the first kilometer the tires was so frozen that I thought I had the car of Fred Flintstone ...
Three days later it rains...
