Let me know if this trip idea would Interest you

I am wondering what the general public think of this idea, so please vote in the poll if you would be so kind.

I am considering putting together a few trip ideas, they would have somewhat flexible departure times, and not yet sure of the price per person, just feeling the idea out.

It would be a choice of 3 different trips, all by plane, with a good pilot.

1. A short sight seeing flight over the city ( Kamloops) while the pilot points out some stuff, and narrates some history of the area.
Flight times would vary, likely have 2 trips available, one would be just 20 mins in the air, the other about 45 mins air time.

2. Flights to a few nice areas nearby, where we would land and the people get to get out and see stuff, look for rocks etc.
There are 4 very nice places to go to all close by.
Optional picnic style lunch offered.
Flight times each way would vary from about 20 mins to 50 mins, and time on the ground say 90 mins to 2 hours.

3. A circle tour over the region, narrated and pointing stuff out, total air time would be about 100 to 110 mins.

All flights would be done low enough to see stuff well, but high enough for safety.

I voted option 3, but I like option 2 above the best.

Thanks for the votes guys......and thanks for the extra feedback Alex.
Its nice to know how people think......because a good idea in my mind, might suck to the vast majority of others.

People do love to sightsee.

Look at what they are doing and charging around the Grand Canyon. Don't forget that the rates are at a premium there.

I'd be looking at the cost of setting it up and keeping it running vs the potential return on the investment.

I'd do #2, provided Alex isn't flying the plane. He drinks too much and might throw up all over his passengers!

I have a cast iron stomach and none of the planes I've been on have crashed

Well I voted #3 and would certainly be interested in doing that sometime. The cost has to be affordable for the common person or family. There are places in and around Calgary that offer helicopter tours but I have not gone on them yet as I find that the cost for a short flight is to high for the amount of time that you get.
The best thing about this is that you have an idea and you have the ability to put it in place. Good luck to you on this.

Speaking of helicopter tours, I avoid them like the plague because it seems like their "fall" rate is twice or three times the average of non-tour helicopters. Is it because of poor maintenance, or is it because they go into places that others would not go?

Thanks everyone for the good ideas.
I would use the 182 for this.
It can take 3 adult passengers, or if 2 are smaller kids, 2 adults and 2 kids.
Would likely just use my charter rates, but of course that is just flight time.
For the trip with landing, the time on the ground is SIGNIFICANTLY lower.

I just did a long charter flight yesterday, and asked my passengers.
They liked the idea, and actually 1 guy said he would be booking a flight to sight see with his family in the next few weeks.
He flies regularly for work, but his kids have never been in a plane, and his wife flies once every few years.

Does your existing liability insurance cover it already?
