That's one of the biggest myths that's ever been perpetrated about Montreal and the province of Quebec.

It's just like saying everyone in the southern states plays the theme song from Deliverance on their banjos.

Montreal is one of the safest, most welcoming cosmopolitan places on earth, but it is a bit like traveling to a foreign country

The good thing is, most of the people that visit act civilized, so everything is usually very copacetic and congenial here, resulting in the great party atmosphere this city is well known for

So here's that same church from a different perspective.

That's my wife and my youngest.

And a view of Montreal from the West Island on a brisk day.
Downtown is on the other side of the little igneous intrusion in the background.

A little town hall in the next town over from mine.
A bastion of English and a thorn in the side of separatists

The Montreal St. Patrick's Parade has run consecutively since 1824 and is one huge fun filled party. Not to be missed on a sunny March day. A great family event and a pretty intense party atmosphere up and down a good part of St. Catherine Street.

After seeing these pictures I really want to visit Montreal to take some pictures of my own. I just hope they are a bit nicer than when I visited Hull. I speak French so I didn't have a problem but they were very rude to my parents who only speak English.

Here we go again

Montreal is not Hull. Hull is across the river from Ottawa where French civil servants work and live. Comparing Hull to Montreal is like comparing PeeWee Herman to John Holmes.

Most of the visitors that come to Montreal don't speak French, yet they keep coming back for more.
