Mountain Biking

Hello!

I am wondering if there are places to mountain bike in the Charlotte area? Trail riding, single track etc.?

Thanks

Sir; yes. Park and Rec. built two riding areas; that I'm aware of. One is at the corner of Camp Stewart and ??? I don't remember the name? I'll add; if I remember

► Renaissance Park, 8 miles of intermediate to advanced trails
1200 West Tyvola Road

There is a place in Concord I stumbled across. If you exit 85 at Poplar Tent (Exit 52) and go west the first street you come to is Goodman. Go north on Goodman. Back in there on the left is a park for mountain biking. I haven't been there but it looks pretty cool from what i have seen.

Lot's of good MTB in Charlotte, and the surrounding areas. My favorite place is Sherman Branch - almost 11 miles of fast, flowing single-track with many technical options. It's on Rocky River Church Rd., just off of I-485 & Albemarle Rd.

You can also find out a TON of info at Tarheel TrailBlazers Charlotte's Premier Mountain Bike Club - they're part of IMBA/SORBA as of Jan. 1, and their members build, maintain and advocate for MTBer's 'round here.

The US national whitewater center has some mountain biking trails. I think you just need to pay $5 for parking to get in.

How hardcore are the whitewater center trails? I ride a cyclocross bike and am thinking about checking them out, but the thinner tires aren't a good match for some places.
