Pine wood derby

It is pine wood derby time for my sons Cub Scouts. Anybody have any speed secrets?

If you are using the type that uses nails to hold the wheels on, file the burrs off of the nails (near the top, its how the nails are made) and use some graphite.

I've used the graphite and that seems to help. That being said, I never won but had a great time doing it! My favorite cars were slow but looked sweet.

I shaped mine like a wedged screwdriver when I made mine a long time ago. Won first place
