as long you only have hens not roosters, you should not have any problems. [no noise] i had 12 in burbank and had no problems. i gave all my neighbors eggs

Havasu is right! It's a sweet little site for anyone who wants to start a hen house. City bylaws where I live don't allow it, but if I could, I would be eating real fresh eggs every chance I get.
They haven't outlawed chickens here, but by the time you allow for setback and the amount of space required for each bird, not many people qualify. My yard is 100' x 150' and I think I could have 2. Not worth the time.

I have had chickens in my back yard since 1954--back when I was a kid.
The city just recently change an ordinance not allowing swine, chickens or any type of farm animals.
The chickens were here prior to Mt. Prospect annexing my neighborhood.
I would think that some sort of grandfather clause would kick in here, but village hall says there is no such clause in Mt. Prospect .
The coop is ornate, & clean fits in well with the rest of my yard--windmill, and the garage looks like a barn--rural America.
Not sure if the chickens are worth the litigation that may follow, but I'm going to try & keep them.
I also saw the post regarding chickens in the city.
It's on Carol Ave--no more than a mile , maybe 2 from downtown.
Goats, geese, chickens--I've seen them myself.
