more women than men

Every generic discussion site I've participated in has had way more more than women, and they complain about the shortage of women in the outside world. My experience has been so different, and I wonder if the Cincinnati area is an anomaly. Even in the male-dominated science fiction world, the local conventions have had more females than males attending.
Last night I attended a book discussion of a science fiction novel. It was at a coffee shop. There were eight women there and only one man! That ratio is pretty standard around here.

a book club

Last month I participated in a book club discussion at a coffee shop. The participants were all ages. The ratio: 12 women and one man. I returned for a new book discussion last night. The ratio? 15 women and two men!
