Are the fires out?

I visited Boulder early Sept. when the fires started, they were mostly contained when we left. I was wondering if they are out completly.

I saw them from the air as we left the airport, we were in Estes Park.

Looked bad from the air, and I'm from Cal. where it always burns!

I rode my bike up Four Mile Canyon Rd on Sunday. Everything is out. Once you get a few miles back it looks really bad.

The Boulder fires are out from what I've heard, but we've had more since then. Right now Grand County has a pretty scary one, in prime burning territory.

Damn pine beetles

I've heard as long as the beetle kill trees are still standing, they're no better fuel than the live ones.

Yeah, pine beetle killed trees are a disaster waiting to happen. It's too bad we had to lose all the trees in the first place!

Yeah. It is not going to be a good day when one of these fires in a beetle area gets out of hand. Unfortunately fire is the only sure-fire (no pun intended) way to get rid of them (or so I've heard)

Too bad about all the lost trees due to fire and beetle kill. I'm in Wyoming, and we're having a huge problem with it too. At our hunting camp in the Sierra Madres, the beetle kill is so bad we had to cut down several trees just to safely pitch our tents.
