River Rafting

I love all the white water river rafting Colorado has to offer. I travel frequently with a friend who has a house in the area, and have had the chance to ride the class 4 rapids of the Royal Gorge. Has anyone tried a class 5 trip? I hear they're very intense waterfalls, high current, etc. Any experienced rafters out there?

I have done some 5's here in WV, and there sweet. Dropping off a waterfall is pretty freaking amazing. Next time you get a chance you need to jump on it. It’s something that needs to be experienced.

I have yet to make it to this place, but I have really been wanting to give it a shot.

U.S. National Whitewater Center.

Anyone ever been? I have only been on class 3's in the NC mtns, but that was just a tease IMO.

Is rafting one of them things after you do it once you are hooked? or does it seem like some people can take it or leave it. I am interested in going to visit my friend who is a guide down the Hudson, i figured people from CO would have a very good idea.

I don't mean to hijack the OP's thread, but where's a good place to go for a first time rafter who's no stranger to water near the Fort Collins/Denver area?
