I really like the truck and spotter in the first pic. There's nothing like that around here.

I just added it to my list of places I may visit one day too. It looks really nice from where I'm sitting.

I go up there every year.
That old building in the bottom pick has a good roof. It a good place to get out of the rain if you have to.

Ditto on the West Slope recommendations

I've got to say that after having lived here for a few months, you can probably skip Crested Butte. If you do decide to visit the western half of the state, focus on Ouray and the San Juans, and please take a side trip to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Ouray is a beautiful town and a good jumping off point for a lot of great hikes (sorry, I'm not into mountain biking). It's got hot springs (that I haven't been to yet, because you have to pay), and it's surrounded by National Forest. The drive between Ouray and Durango is gorgeous. Telluride is fine, if you want a good beer and a good laugh, but don't go out of your way. If you end up driving over from Denver, take the 285/50 route through Gunnison. It winds up being faster, because you don't have to deal with as much traffic, and it's much more beautiful.
