UConn Women's Basketball-Going for the record tonight!

They really shouldn't have too much trouble establishing a new consecutive win streak of 89 games, surpassing John Wooden's UCLA streak of 88. They play No. 15 Florida State tonight at the XL Center. My 10yo daughter's travel basketball team has a party at her coach's house tonight so they can all watch it together. Should be a good time.

U-C-O-N-N. uconn-UConn-UCONN!

i really hope they get it and keep it going, not only cause it will be great for Connecticut and uconn but it will help keep some media heat off the men's team and that will be great to help develop those youngsters.

It's hard to believe they're "flying under the cover" given a 4 ranking, but they sure seemed to have crept up on people! Hopefully they keep progressing. Calhoun seems to be having fun again.

if you listen to Calhouns press release yesterday he did say that the women are keeping some of the media heat off the mens team, which is very different than "flying under the cover". it simply means, if the womens team gets a loss then the story at storrs will most likely shift to a more balanced coverage of men and womens teams and that means more attention on the men, which wouldn't be a good thing necessarily.

They are really a great team backed by a great coach... People say he is a jerk at times but who cares, the man does his job very well.

Not only that, but he gets them up, and expects them to be up, for every single game. Which is no easy feat given the talent. Plus they really do work as a team. Every one of those kids was the "top dog" in her career to this point and could play at any school they wanted. But they are willing to come here and accept whatever role they have to in order to be part of it. And very often it's the role of a bit/situational player.

I don't think you can discount Geno's ability to bring the attention on himself, keeping it away from the girls until it's their time for the spotlight.
