Burger Joint in DuPont circle is new and good. Otherwise I love Good Eats (although small burgers) Five Guys and I've heard Rays get rave but have never been.
Also, I think I randomly ran across that same place one weekend a couple of years ago. I couldn't remember the name either, and I haven't been able to find it since...
Great atmosphere and drink selection though.
You're probably thinking of Shelly's Backroom on F St NW.
I'll give a vote for CommonWealth by the Columbia Heights metro. They have a grass-fed burger that is terrific (and available late), as well as a special burger every day (like lamb). And excellent taps.
i'd have to say five guy's, since i live next to one. if you don't mind franchise stuff, i take my 9 y.o. son once a month to our local red robin. good fast service, big choice on burger's, good drink and affordable.
me and the wife went to P.J. clarke's like 3 weeks ago after a caps game and i had the cadillac burger and the buttered potato home fries it was the best i have ever had and i would highly recomend it i think they are at 1600 Kst nw if not right around that area
check out this video then tell me 5 guys rates. 5 guys burgers are always well done and when they wrap them, the bun gets crushed it just becomes a ball of burger, dont get me wrong 5 guys is decent but if you like burgers and good meat why eat frozen?
