The US Botanic Garden is also pretty cool, and you can go through it pretty quickly to keep the kids moving.

Check out the Old Post Office. The Washington Monument is cool but always a long wait and the Post Office provides a fantastic view of the city. It was also built before the building height limitations were put in place.

If you are here around Christmas time, see the Christmas Carol at Fords Theater. We try and go every year.

Spy Museum

The Spy Museum is worth the money and close to a lot of great free museums, as well.

BierGartenHaus

Needless to say, the Biergartenhaus on H Street NE is worth trying, as well as Dangerously Delicious Pies.

Try local neighborhoods and restaurants in Columbia Heights.
