Outer Banks

I have been to the outer banks a few times but always feel like I am missing some things. Interested in those who live or travel there often and what they do?

I surf, go to the beach, go out to eat. Have driven on the beach a few times with my jeep, etc. Favorite beaches? restaurants? attractions? bars? and maybe places inland worth driving to or stopping as you travel to and from the OBX?
