Thanks

We go to Ev-Henwood which is near my house. It isn't challenging but lots of trails and lots of plants and stuff the average person doesn't get to see.

Here is a link to their site.
UNCW Physical Plant, Arboretum - Ev-Henwood Nature Preserve

It is free and there are picnic tables and such there as well as porta-potties.

Halyburton Park has some decent walking trails that have a few things that go off into the woods/sand.

Nothing like what is out west but it is quiet and generally a pleasant place to relax on a weekend afternoon.

Carolina Beach State Park has some trails as well - though I doubt anything in Southeastern NC could be classified as "hiking" trails.
