Tea

School me on it. Anyone here a lover of good tea? I'm trying to cut back on coffee and I'm thinking this is the way to go.

I am a tea snob. ^.^ What are you looking for? I assume Caffeine...

When made with loose leaf teas:
Black Tea: 23 - 110 mg
Oolong Tea: 12 - 55 mg
Green Tea: 8 - 36 mg
White Tea: 6 – 25 mg

If you let tea steep in HOT water, you will extract more caffeine the longer it steeps.
If you let tea steep in COOL water, you will not extract nearly as much.

Nearly 80% of the caffeine will be extracted within 30 seconds of steeping. Like an espresso only needing 18-22 seconds for optimal extraction.

Tea also contains more caffeine than coffee.

I never knew anything could be steeped in cold. How long to steep it in cold would be useful.

I wonder how this effects herbal infusions?

You can do the same with coffee.

Actually no, if I wanted caffeinie I would just stick with coffee. I'm looking for quality and something that taste good.

I like oolong and white and I'm a huge Kombucha fan.

I also drink Yerba Mate.

Do you like mint? Not peppermint. Spearmint?

I also have a pot full of live chocolate mint! I may be able to share. If you ask nicely. I love adding it to my teas.

I drink very pedestrian tea. Tetley's or King Cole works for me, but...
I like mint tea with honey and lemon when I'm feeling like crap.
I like mint tea with just honey.
I even like mint tea without honey
I should plant some mint in a tub in the garden.

90% of my blood is tea...

Try Earl Grey if you haven't yet, see if you like it. Only 2 brands that can be find on this side of the ocean make good Earl Grey - found anywhere and everywhere Twinings, and hard to find but indefinitely better Wissotzky. Some like it with lemon, some with milk, I just put a little sugar in it to enhance the taste.

OT: RiponredTJ, you changed your sig!!!

I don't. I like peppermint for stomach aches, but I'm not a fan of the taste.
